Purpose
The AME Book of Discipline outlines that each local church shall establish a number of commissions one of which is Stewardship and Finance. The pastor is the chairperson, and the purpose of this commission is to establish and develop the church’s financial programs as well as promote, educate and cultivate Christian stewardship. The Stewardship and Finance commission develops an annual budget for the church, and upon approval by the Official Board, must take required actions to ensure prudent financial decisions are made in order to operate within the budget parameters. The commission also provides accurate financial reporting that informs the congregation of the church’s financial position
Mission
Promote and cultivate Christian Stewardship through ongoing education to the congregation and administers the Financial Ministry of the church. Accurately account for all financial inflows and outflows of the church in a timely manner. Encourage committed Christian living by emphasizing the recognition that EVERYTHING BELONGS TO GOD and as Christians we are called to give on every occasion in obedience to God and in thanks for His unmerited gift of His Son, Jesus the Christ.
